Biography

Maria Flook is the author of the novels LUX, OPEN WATER and FAMILY NIGHT (which received a PEN/Ernest Hemingway Foundation Special Citation and was a New York Times Notable Book), and the nonfiction books INVISIBLE EDEN, A Story of Love and Murder on Cape Cod, and MY SISTER LIFE, The Story of My Sister’s Disappearance. She has also published a collection of short stories, YOU HAVE THE WRONG MAN, and two books of poems, SEA ROOM, and RECKLESS WEDDING (Houghton Mifflin New Poetry Series) which received a GLCA New Writers Award. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, TriQuarterly, Ploughshares, More Magazine and others, and in several anthologies, including INTO THE MIRROR, edited by Kate Bernheimer, and SISTER TO SISTER, edited by Patricia Foster. She teaches in Boston where she is Writer-in-Residence at Emerson College.
